The Grafton Ponds Outdoor Center is located just 8 miles from the Chester House. In addition to having some of the best cross-country skiing in New England, Grafton Ponds Outdoor Center offers snowshoeing, ice skating, and snow tubing. [Instruction in both classical and skate skiing techniques and equipment rentals are available for additional fees.]

The Grafton Ponds Outdoor Center is best known for its vast Nordic trail network, totaling 30k of skating and classic skiing for all abilities through fields and forests. It also has another 30k of backcountry terrain. In addition, its snowmaking system (on 5k of terrain) ensures the best possible conditions all winter!

There is also 15k of snowshoeing trails - including four new trails open this winter!

There is a beautiful pond for ice skating, a 600-foot tubing run, a full-Service Base Lodge offering guided tours, lessons, a repair shop, a retail shop, a complete rental center for all activities and some light warm-you-up food and beverage items.

The Grafton Ponds Outdoor Center is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Weekend Package

Guests who stay at the Chester House Friday and Saturday nights will receive up to a 15% discount on our regular suite and room rates and will receive daily vouchers for 22%-33% off daily trail passes at Grafton Ponds. In addition, we'll also give you a bottle of Vermont maple syrup to take home. And of course, you'll enjoy a scrumptious full breakfast each morning.

A 2-night minimum stay is required on weekends (Friday-Saturday). Guests must present their Grafton Ponds trail passes/receipt to qualify at check-out for the suite/room discount. Package is not available Christmas Week, MLK Weekend, or Presidents' Week.

Guests who stay at the Chester House mid-week (Sunday thru Thursday nights) will receive up to a 20% discount on our regular suite/room rates and will receive daily vouchers for 22%-33% off daily trail passes at Grafton Ponds for each night they stay at the Inn. We'll also give you a bottle of Vermont maple syrup to take home. 1		This beautiful first floor corner room, decorated in blues and whites, features a comfortable queen canopy bed and cozy fireplace (in season). A sofa offers a relaxing sitting area. The private bathroom has a whirlpool bathtub & shower to soothe tired muscles after a hard day of skiing, shopping or sightseeing.
2		Decorated in rich browns, copper and brass, this handsome room on southwest corner of the first floor has a canopied queen bed and a fireplace (in season). Its private bathroom features a steam shower, which is like having an in-room sauna. If you have never taken a steam bath before, then this room is for you. Nothing is more relaxing and refreshing. This room is handicapped-friendly. It does not meet the strict ADA standard but is great for anyone with impaired mobility.
3		This relaxing first floor room is decorated in lush greens and yellows. The room has a romantic king bed which can also be arranged as two twin beds. The room boasts a cozy fireplace (in season). The private bathroom for this room has a claw-footed soaking tub with overhead shower, and the room is decorated in hunter green and white.
4		This bright and cheery second floor room is the most-requested room at the Inn. Referred to by some as the "Honeymoon Suite," this large, sunny, corner room is decorated in various relaxing shades of blue. The room has a queen canopy bed, a welcoming sitting area and a fireplace (in season). An antique desk is a good place to work, if you're here on business. There is a large 2-person Jacuzzi bath in the private bathroom, and a separate shower.
5		*This very* large second floor corner room can sleep up to 4 persons, with its king-sized bed and a queen bed. The sitting area with its warming fireplace (in season) is a great place to relax after a day of skiing, shopping or sightseeing. Couples traveling together like to gather in this room at the end of the day to relax prior going to dinner. The walk-in closet is so large that it doubles as a dressing area, and the antique desk is perfect if you are here on business and need a work surface. The room is decorated in shades of peaceful green that are picked up in the colors of the handmade quilt on the bed. The private bath has a shower.**
6		This second floor room has a queen-size bed. Guests have commented on how tranquil the room is and how enjoyable it is to look out on the fir tree growing just outside the window. The room is decorated in tans and cream. The private bath has a shower.
7		This large second floor guest room, with its 4-poster queen bed and a single (twin) bed, can sleep three. A small desk complements the room, which is done in tans and off-white. The large private bath has a shower.
